Lateral raises

Dumbbell side laterals work the medial heads of the deltoids in isolation.  This exercise is done with much lighter weight than the overhead press and can be done seated or standing.  The weight is lifted from a position at the side of the body upwards so that the arms are extended to the side.  Avoid using momentum to lift the weight as this reduces the stress on the shoulders.
